Cabernet Franc is the father of Cabernet Sauvignon, but is rarely bottled on its own. When built as a standalone wine, Cabernet Franc makes a powerful statement. Crafted by Jean Hoefliger using the same winemaking techniques, these three wines show the true diversity of terroir and the art of interpretation.

We live in an age where less and less time is spent at the dinner table discussing these different points of view. The Debate's mission is to bring people together to share a glass of wine to discuss and debate just as our team does. The Debate includes three perspectives of Napa Valley Cabernet Francs from three outstanding vineyards in Napa Valley: Sleeping Lady, Beckstoffer To Kalon and Stagecoach.

THE DEBATE Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2018

"Not quite as intense as the other 2 Cabernet Francs in 2018, still, the wine has plenty to offer with its layers of black and blue fruits, licorice, vanilla and floral notes. Plush, forward, and fruity, this is going to be great on release and for 15 or more years." - The Wine Cellar Insider

Color: Deep, dark cherry with touches of cherry and ruby on the rim

On the nose: An explosion of spices, including nutmeg, licorice, chocolate and roasted espresso bean. A freshness of rosemary, muddled blueberries and violets.

On the palate: A fresh and bright entrance balanced by great mid-palate acidity. Boysenberry, mulberry and huckleberry with granular tannins and lingering freshness.

THE DEBATE Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2018

"This is all about the lusciously textured, rich, dense layers of chocolate-covered cherries, flowers, spice, and blue fruits. Packed with layers of ripe, sweet, opulent fruits, as rich as it is, it is also fresh, complex, long and nuanced."

97 PTS – The Wine Cellar Insider

Color: Beautiful, shiny dark cherry and with touches of scarlet on the rim

On the nose: An elegant and silky nose of paprika, roasted red pepper, candied raspberry and toffee.

On the palate: A round, but fresh entry with a mineral driven mid-palate, evolving into a long finish of elderberry, black currant, and cedar

THE DEBATE Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2018

“The wine provides ample richness with complex nuances of flowers, forest leaf, tobacco, dark and red berries and a touch of blueberry. Lush, fresh, rich, and with good intensity, give it 4-5 years in the cellar.”

96 PTS – The Wine Cellar Insider

Color: Deep, dark slate with candy red and garnet on the rim.

On the nose: A voluptuous nose of cinnamon and chili flakes, which evolves into roasted strawberries and basil.

On the palate: A rich and silky entry with a structured and savory mid-palate. Flavors ever evolving from caramelized strawberries and smoked blackberries to French thyme and sun-ripened tomato.
