Aida Estate Vineyard has confirmed our initial belief that this site would be the ideal location for growing Bordeaux varietals. Just north of the pinch in the hourglass of the Napa Valley, the cabernet sauvignon grapes from our Aida Estate provide the bold, structured backbone for this immensely enjoyable wine.

2014 AIDA ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The 2014 growing season was characterized by a considerably dry winter throughout December and January. Late winter rains in February and early March provided adequate water to the vines. Warm spring temperatures led way to an early bud break with moderate vine growth through the spring months. A warm summer with a few hot streaks, provided ideal growing conditions for an early harvest. Small but dense clusters with great concentration of flavors yielded an abundant crop. 2014 will be remembered as the year of the earthquake (August 24th) and the wines will be remembered as fruit forward, approachable upon release but with enough structure and concentration to age gracefully.

Our 2014 Vineyard 29 Aida Estate Cabernet Sauvignon beautifully concentrated aromas of espresso beans, black currants and burning embers opens with gentle swirling from the glass. Cassis, scorched earth and notes of chocolate Bavarian cake round out a rich, generous palate. Full-bodied in weight and texture, the everlasting finishing on this wine will leave you breathless. Decant while young, this wine will cellar well for 20+ years.

2015 AIDA ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Like the previous season, 2015 was a year of drought and water scarcity. A milder winter, with few days below freezing, led to another early bud break. The mild temperatures continued into the summer and finally ramped up towards the end of the season. In a year with such a sporadic growing season, irrigation practices were crucial. We harvested our lowest yielding crop in a decade, but the wines have phenomenal acidity and structure. While the valley experienced more growing challenges than in previous years, the wines are showing amazing complexity and have long aging potential.

The depth of the 2015 Aida Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is flush with concentrated black cherries, violets, cassis, and cocoa. Slate minerality and scorched earth, along with wafts of tapenade, lend weight to this full-bodied wine. Cedar and black pepper, paired with good acidity and freshness, help round out this tautly built Cabernet. This upper valley cabernet will offer a spectacular glass of wine for the next twenty plus years.

Pairs perfectly with:

Seared New York Strip Steak With Bacon-ed Fingerling Potatoes, Butternut Squash and a Red Wine Sauce
Roasted Rack of Lamb with Sunchokes and Olive Tapenade

2016 AIDA ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

98 PTS – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

“The deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate Vineyard comes strutting out of the glass like a total rock star, giving up flamboyant notes of warm cassis, blueberry compote and preserved plums with exciting sparks of kirsch, red roses, oolong tea, star anise and cigar box plus a touch of underbrush. Full-bodied, rich, bold and wonderfully decadent in the mouth, it fills the palate with black fruit preserves and red berry layers, supported by a firm, grainy line and finishing very long.”

96 PTS – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

“A powerful, explosive wine, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate possesses tremendous intensity in all of its dimensions. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, bittersweet chocolate, scorched earth, leather, licorice and menthol all run through this potent, inky Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are present and quite potent, but also very nicely integrated. The Aida is mostly Clone 337 Cabernet, with dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.”

The 2016 growing season in Napa Valley was long, warm and nearly perfect. The mild Spring promoted early budburst while calm conditions ensured a full fruit set. The summer was warm but relatively uneventful in terms of heat spikes or rain events. August and September were moderate and allowed us to carefully plan out a long, extended, low stress harvest. The finished wines possess explosive aromatics, intense fruit flavors, and good structure. Not as firm and structured as 2013 but more so than 2014, the 2016 wines show excellent aging potential.

Explosive aromas of black currants, deep black cherry, cocoa powder and crushed stone. With hints of blueberry, violet, and scorched earth on the palate, this powerful, concentrated St. Helena Cabernet has a velvety texture, structured acid backbone, firm tannin prole and long, drawn out finish. This baby leaves you salivating for another sip.
